Capers, Sharon

When Sharon Lea Capers was born on July 11, 1946, in San Diego, California, her father, Oscar, was 30, and her mother, Ruby, was 24. She has three brothers and one sister. Sharon is a photographer and has had some of her photos appear in mainstream publications.

Memories shared by Sharon:

“I was born in Oceanside, CA and attended George Washington Elementary school in Reedley and my teacher for 5th & 6th grades was John Rogalski, who I found out a few years ago is a distant relative on the Berg side. I graduated from Pasadena High School in Texas. I also attended Reedley Junior College and the University of Washington. I retired from the Washington State Transportation Research Center in 2014.

I am a Protestant Christian and gave my heart to the Lord at the old Reedley Full Gospel Church when I was 7 years old.  Brother and Sister Draper were the pastors. I sang in the choir at Evangelistic Temple in Houston for a good number of years.

I love to travel and have been to about 46 US states and have visited Mexico, Canada, and Australia. I enjoy photography and working with leather making purses, wallets, checkbook cases, belts and other items.

I have not been married and have no children. I love cats and dogs and have owned several of each.”
